As I walked the other morning a thought came to me that clarified all that is what this life is about. At least where people’s minds seem to be….all the time. They are either into a story or sometimes into a fact. For example: Story:  we must find and punish those that have made extraordinary amounts of money by taxing them so that those that have much less, can have much more.  It’s a good story and has a happy ending. Those with less, get more; those with more, have less.   Fact:  Those that have, provide most of what that have less receive in benefits from the neutral, more or less, government largesse.  Reality:  To achieve a balance in this dilema, maybe the dispenser of the above benefits should reduce the costs of dispensing the benefits, plus find ways to eliminate both duplication in benefit programs and the 20% waste of these benefits and those that receive these benefits should provide some input into needs of the local or national government as a whole. That reality would balance the pressures on both sides, but it would be required to have a committment from both the story side and fact side. This is only about the current and growing chasm in America, but it applies to all of the capitalistic West. Maybe Russia and China have it right. A full fledge quasi-Communistic control governement of privelege and greed guised in government departments and structure as opposed at the three hundred year attempt at individualism which apparently is finallly crumbling. Maybe Russia and China, did win the Cold War, after all. But the point is, from the above, is that all situations have three parts: a story; the facts; and the reality is somewhere in between.  We should, in all things in life in dispute, understand these three components and work for reality solutions.
